How to Audition

The Lancaster-Fairfield Youth Choir is a select choir, meaning singers need to successfully audition in order to become members.  It is an honor choir.  We are looking for treble singers in grades 4-12 who sing with a light, clear, tone.  This means the singers have unchanged voices - singing soprano and alto parts.  If you are unsure of what this means, please check with your school music teacher.

Auditions are typically held the first Tuesday of September and the first Tuesday of January.* Auditions can also be scheduled upon request at any time, but please understand that if it is close to a performance date, you might not be prepared for that concert.

SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION ON JANUARY 21, 2025!*

This date was moved from 1/7 to 1/21!

We keep our audition process as easy and stress-free as possible!  There will be two judges, the director, Mrs. Smith, and one other adult singer.  You will be asked to sing "Happy Birthday" a-capella (with no accompaniment) from any note you wish.  Then you'll echo some vocal exercises to relax and warm up your voice.  Next, you will echo rhythm patterns, then you will echo melodic patterns.  Finally, the director will guide you through a vocal range test to determine how high and low your voice naturally sings at this point.  That's it!  You'll be notified of your acceptance status within 24 hours.
